ABOUT US

The Performance Act exists to grow hauora in sporting communities across Aotearoa. We use evidence-based psychological tools to create real, lasting change — for individuals and the communities around them.

Community sport is more than competition. It's a platform for growth, connection, and meaningful kōrero. We work alongside athletes, coaches, and whānau to strengthen the environments where people thrive.

3 PACT PILLARS

OUR PACT

Three pillars that guide everything we do.

01

IMPACT

We deliver evidence-based programs led by high-quality practitioners. Integrating research, clinical expertise, and organisational values to create meaningful, lasting change.

02

INCLUSIVITY

We leverage sports and educational environments to reach diverse communities. Committed to Te Tiriti o Waitangi, we implement culturally safe practices that honour every participant.

03

CARE

We empower all participants by recognising them as the experts of their own experiences. Every challenge is valid, and every person deserves to be heard and supported.

WHO WE SUPPORT

Supporting Athletes

We equip athletes with evidence-based psychological skills that transfer from sport into everyday life.

  • Greater concentration & focus skills
  • Closer connection to purpose and increased motivation
  • Clear strategies for performance anxiety management
  • Improved social connectedness with team members
  • Tools for navigating pressure and setbacks

Empowering Coaches

We help coaches create calmer, more effective learning environments through psychological awareness.

  • Calmer, more effective learning environments
  • Increased coach anxiety management skills
  • Understanding of how to apply psychological tools in coaching
  • Improved communication strategies
  • Frameworks for supporting athlete wellbeing

Growing Whānau

We support parents and families to better understand and respond to the emotional worlds of their tamariki.

  • Better ability to understand and respond to their child's emotions
  • Strengthened parent-child bond
  • Understanding of how sideline behaviours influence the sport experience
  • Personal coping strategies for emotional well-being

PSYCHOLOGY, APPLIED IN SPORT

Our work is grounded in evidence-based psychology and shaped by the realities of sport. We draw from a range of approaches to build support that fits the person, their environment, and the challenges they face.

Rather than forcing people into a rigid model, we mould practical tools around what matters most — helping athletes, coaches, and whānau navigate pressure, respond to setbacks, and move forward with greater clarity, confidence, and purpose.
